I finally gathered the strength to look Kenny in his eyes and we stared into each others eyes for a while as though we were trying to read into each others minds. I could see the fear in his glassy eyes and slightly his hands were shivering. " You are shivering!" I thought out loud.

"Am afraid of what you are about to say. The one guy who has the power to hurt me is standing in front of me and I think you are about to do it."
I had never seen Kenny so vulnerable, he was always so macho, a tear fell from his eye.
" I don"t-" before I could finish the sentence that would go through Kenny"s heart like a sword, his phone rang.
It was Amber.

"Hey Amber" <pause>

"What! Have you been following me?!"

The idea of Amber stalking Kenny to see what he was up to reminded me how much she needed him to maintain her status in the monarchy. It was too great a temptation. I was still undecided about the feelings I had for Kenny but I could not pass on an opportunity to do news worthy damage to Amber"s reign at st Dominics. A smile must have crept upon my face because,

"What is it?" Kenny noticed. " I want to give this a try" I said. " I never realised what it was I felt for you until now, so I want to give us a chance but on one condition. Amber needs to get out of the picture". I said this, while moving to sit on my bed.
"Does it matter? You know what she is like, we can just be together and I will stay with her until the end of the year, it would save us a lot of drama". Off course kenny didn"t know I loved Dramatics.
"Ok sure, if that"s what it takes to be with you then I will do it." Kenny seemed unsure, but I figured he was just nervous. I walked him down the stairs and watched him walk to his car, it was getting late and dark outside. I got back inside, My mother was upstairs packing, she was going to Kilargo were her new man friend had a business meeting, she knew to tag along this time around.

The door bell rang and it was William, my mother"s other.

"Ok honey I will be in Kilargo till Sunday, are you going to be Ok?, I have bought everything and here"s my card if you need to get anything." My mother kissed me good-bye "No parties!!" and they drove off to the airport.

The door bell rang and it was an unhappy Amber.

"What are you doing here?". I asked. Amber"s dark eyes sparkled in the dim porch lights, her straight red hair was long and remained still despite the light cold wind that was blowing in the house.
"I want to know what Ken was doing here!" She ordered. "Well why don"t you ask Ken, Amb ? " I said folding my arms.
" I want you stay away from him Billy do you here me!" She said in a stern voice.
" What why, are you afraid I will do things to him you can"t. Kenny and I were best-friends long before you. He is unsatisfied with his current situation and wants things to go back to were they were, am not one to turn away from a friend in need."

They say a smile is the cheapest way to improve your looks, I thought a frown suited Amber better, she looked divine with the anger radiating from her face, I slammed the door shut.

Kenny.

My alarm rang at 10 past 6 and I snoozed it, it rang at 6:15 and I snoozed it again, when it rang at 6:20 my step brother Eric barged into my room and pulled the quilt of me!
"Wake up fucker you are not making me late for my interview." Eric said while pulling the curtains open.
"Gee men am up!" I crowed out of bed and sauntered to my bathroom, I was never eager to go to school on any day but today I was especially reluctant. Amber wanted answers and I didn"t know if I had it in me to tell her, what I knew was that I wasn"t ready for the entire school to know I was gay just before prom, which is what would happen if I broke up with Amber. But I wanted Bill.

" I need you to drop me off at Hamilton on your way to school." Eric stated, I couldn"t wait before his car came from the garage were it was being repainted. Eric was 21 and loved to remind me he was older despite the fact that we looked similar in stature. He had great pecs like I did, a tan like mine and longer spiky blonde hair. He was hot, but still he was my annoying "know it all" step brother.

"Le go" I grabbed my keys and we both kissed mom good bye. I drove like a snail to school partly to annoy Eric but mostly because I wanted to get there when everyone was in class.

When I finally arrived it was 8:05 and people had just diffused into class, I got in and sat near the door. I could feel Ambers stare from the Back of the class and B"s presence on the far left. Before I new it, it was lunch Break and B signed for me to go over and speak to Amber.

"Hey, can we go over somewhere and talk? " I approached Amber who was surrounded by her friends.
"Sure" she said after much deliberation. We walked to my car. We hopped in and before I could find the words to break it down to her, she started,

" Kenny, I will not let you make a fool of me. You know I don"t trust Billy and you didn"t too what"s changed?" Amber interrogated.
" Danny and the guys roughed him up last friday and I just went to make sure he wasn"t badly hurt". This was true.
"So why did you lie about were you were yesterday?"
" I knew how much you disliked him so I just didn"t want to upset you over nothing."
" Is that all? "
"... Well yeah, nothings changed."

I kissed her on the cheek and the bell rang.
As I guided Amber out the car B"s friend Emily stared at us, at me with revulsion.

I knew B would be mad that I didn"t break it off with Amber but he didn"t appreciate the fallout if I did. Amber invited me to her place that evening, her parents were going to Kilargo. I had no choice but to accept and we kissed good bye.

"You didn"t break it off with her did you?". B saw right through me when I approached him after school. " No I couldn"t". "Then you and I have nothing more to talk about." B said walking away.
"No wait, am going to do it, just not now." I pulled him by the arm. " We are in july kenny, do it now." B was indignant. " You have waited all your life for this and if you really want to be with me, tonight at mine. Drop the bitch and I promise you won"t regret it." And finally he kissed me. It was powerful and electric, I felt my knees go weak and my head go light. The passion and sheer intensity of this kiss blew me away... It was strange, during the kiss his eyes were open.
